12/23/2011:Change in University Policy : Compensation to Research Subjects

Finance and Accounting has changed the requirements for payments to research subjects. These changes go into effect on 01/01/2012.

A brief summary of the two changes:

1. Payments to UF employees will no longer be processed through payroll. Employees will be paid like other research subjects.
2. Social Security Numbers are not required if the total payment for a study is $25 or less. NOTE: you must still collect SSN if total payment for the study is greater than $25 (e.g. three payments of $10).

The announcement reminds everyone that the following:

1. Total payments of $600 or more to a subject are processed through accounts payable.
2. All payments to non-resident aliens, even if they are UF employees, must still be processed through payroll
